Based on a hybrid model, BookWeb Singapore is an online book-ordering service by Books Kinokuniya, combining the convenience of online shopping with the accessibility of our Kinokuniya Singapore Main Store (SIMS) at Ngee Ann City.

With immediate internet access to real stock, BookWeb Singapore differentiates itself from other online book web-sites. Our customers are provided with an access to 500,000 titles in real stock - the largest range of books in Singapore! When dealing with real stock from Kinokuniya Singapore Main Store (SIMS), our customers need not wait for books to be obtained overseas or from a warehouse when their orders come through. This is unlike other online book web-sites. In addition, our database is also being updated daily.

How to Use BookWeb Singapore?

1. From the navigation bar on your left-hand side, click on BookWeb Singapore and be linked to Books Kinokuniya's online book-ordering service.

2. Select English Books or Japanese Books.

There are two alternatives for carrying out a book search:

• i) Enter the book title or ISBN in the space provided and click 'Search'.
  
  
• ii) For advanced search, click 'Japanese Books' or 'English Books' under "More Search Options".
  (Note: Japanese books search requires keywords to be entered in Japanese.)
  
  
  a) ISBN Search
  International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is a 13-digit number unique to each individual title. If you have the correct number ready with you, please type in without hyphens; this is the fastest way to get to what you are looking for.
  
  b) Title Search
  If you have the exact wording of a title you are looking for, type that in, including words such as 'the', 'a', 'in' or 'on', to the first of the three 'Title Search' boxes provided.
  
  Eg. Who Says Elephants Can't Dance?
  
  If you are less sure of the exact wordings of the title, then type one key word each to two or three 'Text Search' boxes.
  
  Eg. 'Who', 'Elephants' and 'Dance'
  
  If you are not certain if it is 'Elephant' or 'Elephants', then it is better to type less letters, i.e. 'Elephant'. By doing so, titles bearing both single and plural forms of the key word typed will be displayed (whereas typing plural forms will lead to only titles bearing the plural form being displayed).
  
  
• c) Author Search
  Searching hierarchy is: Family name ; First name ; Middle name(s)
  It is best to type the family name first, and after a comma, the first name.
  
  Eg. Gerstner, Louis
  
  Unless you know the spelling of a name correctly, typing in everything does not always bring the best result, since author names are often recorded variably in databases, for example, with or without their middle names or initials.
  
  Eg. Louis V. Gerstner
  
  In this example, it is necessary to type every single word correctly (including the space and the period). The name may also appear elsewhere as L. V. Gerstner, Louis Gerstner, L. Gerstner, etc.
  
  
• d) Publishers Search
  Type in the name of the publisher concerned. Always remember to type less to retain more variant spellings that may exist in the database.
  
  Eg. Harperbusiness
  
  In this example, typing in 'Harperbusiness' is good enough, but not 'Harper Business' because of the space between the two words. Although the latter is the proper name of the publisher, this kind of technicality could sometimes happen.
  
  In any case, if you are not sure of the spelling, type in shorter words and search using a combination of other search option(s).
  
  Eg. Title Search: 'Who' and 'Elephant'; Publisher Search: 'Harper'
  
  
• e) Category Search
  Categories can be used to narrow your search.
  
  
• f) Academic Descriptor
  Publications categorised as academic titles are given Academic Descriptors that describe the subject headings in which the titles are classified. It helps narrow down wide options during search.
  
  
• g) Publication Date
  You can set a limit to your search by providing the publication date of the title(s) you are looking for. Specify the Year, Month and number of months that follow (up to twelve months).

3. From the list of titles shown after you key in your search data, click on the title of the book you are looking for. You will be linked to the page with its detailed information, for example price (in Singapore dollars), publisher, etc.

4. To order the book, click Add to Shopping Cart.

5. On the confirmation page, ensure that the title and quantity is correct.

If you wish to carry on your search for more titles and come back to check out later, simply click on the Back button on your browser to continue your search. Your Shopping Cart data will be retained unless otherwise deleted at your own will (click Remove from Shopping Cart while at the Shopping Cart page).

6. Enter your name, telephone number, email address (required), home address and other particulars.

7. You may select to have the books delivered to you or collect them at Kinokuniya Singapore Main Store (SIMS) at Ngee Ann City.

8. Click Checkout Now.

9. Upon receipt of your order through BookWeb Singapore, an email message entitled BookWeb Order Information will be sent to you within 24 hours, letting you know the availability of the ordered item(s).

Order processing is however not being done currently during weekends (from noon on Fridays to 9am on Mondays), so orders received over the weekend will be dealt with first thing in the morning on Mondays (in case Monday is a public holiday, on Tuesdays).

Terms and Conditions for using Bookweb Singapore

• Only orders from Singapore will be processed.
• A minimum purchase of S$10 is required for orders to be processed via BookWeb Singapore.
• Orders received by 9am sharp on a working day will be delivered to you by the next working day.
• Delivery is charged at S$5 per delivery and a minimum purchase of S$10 is required for all deliveries.
• Free delivery is provided for one-time purchase of S$50 and above.
• Alternatively, orders can also be collected at Kinokuniya Singapore Main Store (SIMS) at Ngee Ann City within 7 days from the day the order is being confirmed.
• All exchanges are as per the exchange policy at all Kinokuniya Singapore stores. Customers are to bring their books and the delivery order down to Kinokuniya Singapore Main Store (SIMS) at Ngee Ann City to make the exchange. All cancellations of orders must be made by 9am sharp on the day of delivery.
