Learn the art of ikebana - Japanese art of flower arrangement - from Dr. Leonard Lim, founding President of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society in Singapore, on 13th March 2010, Saturday, 3.30pm at Kinokuniya Singapore Main Store.

Ikebana is more than simply putting flowers into a container. It is a disciplined art form that connects closely with nature.  It is a form of creative expression and its beauty comes from the color combinations, natural shapes and graceful lines of its arrangement using natural materials.

For anyone keen to understand more about this distinctive art form, the book by Dr. Lim - Essential Ikebana, offers basic instructions such as cutting and bending stems as well as more sophisticated aspects of colour, shape and quality of ikebana arrangements.

Dr. Leonard Lim's passion for flowers and all things Japanese began in his teen years, and he has since studied ikebana under various professors in Singapore and Japan from 1989.  Dr. Lim conducts ikebana lessons regularly and has exhibited, conducted workshops and presented ikebana demonstrations locally and internationally.
