All the children were monitored daily (clinical and parasitological examinations) for 8 days then weekly for 2 weeks.Fever and other symptoms cleared faster in halofantrine group within 8 days. The malaria parasites also cleared faster in children that received halofantrine when compared with chloroquine-chlorpheniramine group within 8 days.However there was no significant difference between chloroquine-chlorpheniramine and halofantrine groups in both symptoms and parasite clearance at 14th day.
