A previous edition is cited in Books for College Libraries, 3d ed. . Bagnold explains on a basis of experimental physics some of the many strange phenomena produced by the natural movement of sand over the dry land of the Earth, seeing that as a particular case of the transport of solid particles of any kind by fluids in general. Because of the war, only a few copies were printed of the original 1941 publication by Methuen in London. This is a reprint of the 1954 slightly corrected re-issue.
