Akhmatova's Petersburg (Anniversary Collection)

In the poetry of Anna Akhmatova the nineteenth-century myth of Petersburg, as the accursed, unreal city, is filtered through the vision of a poet born in Imperial Russia and destined to confront the terrors of Soviet rule.
