In honor of military historian Russell Weigley, this collection contains nine essays on his field of specialization. Longacre, a historian at Langley Air Force Base, and Zeman (history, St. Joseph's U. and Valley Forge Military College) offer a broad range of discussions, on topics such as the Atlanta Campaign of 1864, command development during World War I, British perspectives on Eisenhower, and the development of US military attachš. Others examine the Korean War and Operation Rollup, the US Navy's education for the merchant marine in the nineteenth century, soldier voting in the election of 1944, government and military policies on the use of black soldiers in the Civil War, and British views of civil-military relations in the eighteenth century.
