Renowned counselor and therapist Helen V. Collier approaches the therapeutic needs specific to women in this straightforward guide to understanding the best ways to help women for health professionals both in and out of the mental health field.
In an effort to take sexism out of the medical professions, Helen V. Collier presents an approach to counseling women specific to common needs, desires, and hardships they often bring to therapy.
With an extensive introduction outlining why counseling efforts should be gender-specific based on new developments between the differences of males and females, Collier presents research on the problems women bring to therapy with a focus on role transitions, career counseling, minority women and women in poverty, and physiological concerns.
Counseling Women is "a profoundly human plea and remedy for both counselor and client alike." — Alan P. Bell, Ph.D., Co-author of Sexual Preference
