The Music of the Arabs (Amadeus")

The late composer and musicologist Touma explores the traditional secular and sacred art music of the Arab peoples. He summarizes the musical life of Arabs throughout their cultural history, and surveys the artistic production of musicians performing the music today. The 1996 cloth edition was a translation by Laurie Schwarts of the 1989 German Musik der Araber . The disk, included with this edition, contains seven traditional pieces.
