The compelling experiences of some of the 2,000 Irish people stuck in occupied France after the defeat by Nazi Germany in June 1940 were overshadowed by the threat of internment or destitution. The book also looks at the work of the Irish in the resistance and that the attitude of some Irish towards the German occupiers was not always clear-cut.
