This is a slightly oversize (9.5x11"), attractively produced, abundantly illustrated presentation of all aspects of forest flora and fauna in Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic, Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, western Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Sao Tom, and Principe. The color photos support detailed text pertaining to minerals, climate, ecological and temporal gradients, and conservation and current challenges. This book was originally published in English and French editions (Lannon Publishers, Belgium) in 2004; Protea House published another English edition that same year, which is here made available for the first time in the US via distribution by International Publishers Marketing. Preparation and production were supported by three international conservation agencies with the acronyms ADIE, ECOFAC, and FFEM. The author (affiliated with ADIE) has been devoted to preservation of African nature since the mid-1980s. Annotation 2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
