The 20 papers presented by Sandri-Goldin (microbiology and molecular genetics, U. of California at Irvine) summarize and highlight recent advances in understanding the mechanisms of viral infection for alpha herpesviruses, which have the ability to establish lifelong infection in the peripheral nervous system of the natural host. Papers contain some review of their respective topic, but concentrate on latest developments.
