While poets and poetry played a major role in France during the German Occupation, the many foreign poems translated there between 1940 and 1944 has attracted little attention so far. Who were the authors, languages, strategies and translators at work? Based on unpublished sources, this book sheds new light on the meaning and importance of poetic translation in wartime.
