§15§Norditalien zählt zu den interessantesten Gebieten der romanischen Sprachwissenschaft. Die hier gesprochenen Mundarten weisen auf allen Ebenen (Phonetik, Morphologie, Syntax) ganz spezifische sprachliche Phänomene auf, die aus synchroner wie aus diachroner Sicht von so bemerkenswerter Eigenart sind, daß das gesamte Gebiet als ein Spiegel der italienischen und gallo-italischen Sprachgeschichte gesehen werden kann. Die internationale Tagung "Italia settentrionale: crocevia di idiomi romanzi" (Trento, 21-23 Oktober 1993), deren Beiträge im vorliegenden Band veröffentlicht werden, war dem Thema der norditalienischen Dialekte gewidmet. Das Buch ist ein wichtiges Informationsinstrument für alle Linguisten und wendet sich in gleicher Weise an Italianisten, Dialektologen und Romanisten. §16§Northern Italy is one of the most rewarding areas for Romance linguistics.
