Product Description

The aim of this part bibliography is a dual one: to establish a concordance with the Dictionary of Medieval Occitan (DOM) published in 1997, and to facilitate the unification of the abbreviations used. To this end the editing team has drawn on the sound basis represented by »Supplement 1« of the DOM. Text datings and detailed bibliographic references are based on that publication. The concordance of the abbreviations used is indispensable in view of the fact that the two dictionaries complement each other.

The DAO is the first dictionary of Old Occitan on thematic principles. At the same time it provides an onomasiological key to the two major dictionaries of Occitan by Raynouard and Levy, while exceeding these in scope by drawing on extensive new research material. The supplement is designed as a reference dictionary supplying detailed contexts for the material covered in the DAO.
