Product Description

§16§The papers in this volume were presented at TMRA 2007, the International Conference on Topic Maps Research and Applications, held October 11-12, 2007, in Leipzig, Germany. TMRA 2007 was the third conference in an annual series of international conferences dedicated to Topic Maps in science and industry. The motto of TMRA 2007 was "Scaling Topic Maps." Taken literally the motto implies developing Topic Maps approaches that scale to large data and user volumes. This is a very real and useful research problem which is addressed by many of the contributions to the conference. But there is an even broader interpretation of the motto: wide adoption of Topic Maps in academia and industry. This is an equally important problem, and one that the TMRA conference series exists to help solve. And there is a more fanciful view on the motto. To "scale" can also mean to climb, so for the attendees the conference provided a way to "scale the mountain of Topic Maps." In all these ways TMRA 2007 hel §16§ped to scale Topic Maps. §04§Scaling Topic Maps.- Scaling Topic Maps.- Applied Topic Maps in Industry and Administration.- Convergence of Classical Search and Semantic Technologies - Evidences from a Practical Case in the Chemical Industry.- A Citizen's Portal for the City of Bergen.- Visualisation and Representation of Topic Maps.- TMchartis - A Tool Set for Designing Multiple Problem-Oriented Visualizations for Topic Maps.- Open Educational Topic Maps: A Text-Oriented Perspective.- Using Topic Maps for Visually Exploring Various Data Sources in a Web-Based Environment.- Collaborative Applications.- Topincs Wiki - A Topic Maps Powered Wiki.- Bookmap - A Topic Maps Based Web Application for Organising Bookmarks.- Standards Related Research.- A Theory of Scope.- Comparing Topic Maps Constraint Specification Languages.- Information Integration with Topic Maps.- Knowledge-Oriented Middleware Using Topic Maps.- Large Scale Knowledge Representation of Distributed Biomedical Information.- Versioning of Topic Map Te §04§mplates and Scalability.- Social Software with Topic Maps.- Toward a Topic Maps Amanuensis.- Cooperative Building of Multiple Points-of-View Topic Maps with Hypertopic.- Metadata Creation in Socio-semantic Tagging Systems: Towards Holistic Knowledge Creation and Interchange.- Topic Maps Engines.- Ruby Topic Maps.- Topic Maps and Dublin Core.- Expressing Dublin Core in Topic Maps.- Mapping between the Dublin Core Abstract Model DCAM and the TMDM.- Information Management with Topic Maps.- On Path-Centric Navigation and Search Techniques for Personal Knowledge Stored in Topic Maps.- KAIFIA: Knowledge Assisted Intelligent Framework for Information Access.- Open Space and Poster Sessions.- Report from the Open Space and Poster Sessions.
