Political scientists and anthropologists from Uganda and Europe analyze Uganda's 2011 election for academic researchers and students, international organizations, opinion leaders and general readers inside and outside the country. The study serves as a reference point in assessing Uganda's evolving electoral democracy while providing field-based insights into critical, often under-appreciated, aspects of the electoral process. Among the topics are election results and public contestation of the vote, the commercialization of the election in the urban informal economy, the land issue in the Buganda Kingdom during the election, and Ugandan politics and music celebrities.
