Structural Markedness and Syntactic Structure : A Study of Word Order and the Left Periphery in Mexican Spanish

Investigates a number of word order phenomenon in Spanish, concentrating on the language's unmarked word order and the perturbations of this order that result from topicalization and wh-movement. This book shows that the word order results from the interaction between the Extended Projection Principle and structural markedness considerations.
