The Medievalist Impulse in American Literature : Twain, Adams, Fitzgerald and Hemingway

By providing close readings of a variety of texts, this study aims to answer such questions as why the medievalist impulse has been ignored or marginalised in the context of American literature, especially given its prominence in studies of British literature.
