Waldman (art history, U. of Texas at Austin) presents a compilation of documents--in Italian--on the life and work of Florentine sculptor Baccio di Michelangelo Bandinelli (1493-1560), along with a selection of important texts concerning the artist's ancestors and descendants. The 1600 items included in the text provide information about every major commission of Bandinelli's and many of his smaller-scale works, including bronzetti, prints, and paintings. The majority of the texts were uncovered by the author during a decade of research conducted throughout Italy, and appear published here for the first time; many come from the private archive of the Bandinelli family.
