With contributions from other art scholars, Hassrick presents interpretive essays on 11 of the best known bronze sculptures by Alexander Phimister Proctor (1860-1950) from the vast collection of art relating to the American west at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming. The bronzes are first and second models of Fawn, multiple variations of Stalking Panther, Arab Stallion, large and small versions of Indian Warrior, Moose Elk, Q Street Buffalo, multiple versions of Buckaroo, 1914 and 1928 versions of Pursued, Buffalo Hunt, and On the War Path.
