The ground-breaking work reveals the many facets of Jewish life in Yugoslavia from the time of their expulsion from Spain and Portugal in 1492. This book provides an in-depth look at the integral role the Sephardic Jews, from the Hebrew word for Spain, played in the broader development of the city. More broadly, the book provides readers with a glimpse into a community which saw seventy percent of its members annihilated during WWII.
