This collection of essays highlights the works and life of Truman Capote. Most of the papers, presentations, and performances included here were given at the Truman Capote Literary Society's panel at the South Atlantic Modern Language Association conference from 2009 to 2025. Some of the papers were later expanded into published manuscripts and printed again here with permission from the publishers. In addition to essays and papers, the collection contains original dramatic performance scripts and original musical compositions inspired by Capote and his work. Also included are photographs from dedication ceremonies, performances, discussions, and panels from the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival celebrating Capote. One personal essay remembering Capote will appeal to fans of the film In Cold Blood, and a second touching essay is included from a physician who treated Capote a year before his death. This collection is a tribute to Capote in American literature and popular culture.
