After a contractor, Takaoka, goes missing and a severed hand is found, Reiko Himekawa is assigned to the case, but when a childhood friend insists that the photo she has is not Takaoka, Himekawa's suspicions lead her to discover a complex yakuza suicide-for-profit scheme.
