Religious scholars continue the effort to describe Christian origins in terms of anthropology, social history, and the human sciences, rather than simply continuing to paraphrase the dominant, essential Lukian, paradigm. They re-examine the categories that have held a privileged place in the scholarly imagination of Christian origins; and develop constructive proposals for re-imagining the frame of reference, remapping the earliest history, and rethinking the methods and models for the beginnings of Christianity.
