Vogeley (modern and classical languages, U. of San Francisco), presents this analysis of inter-cultural intellectual commerce through the trade in political and philosophical texts between Mexico and the United States in the early nineteenth century. Drawing on correspondence between a Philadelphia publisher and their sales representative in Mexico at the moment of the nation's independence, the work examines the transfer of ideas, political structure and direction between two emerging nations. The volume includes several appendices of primary source documents. Annotation 2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
