In the form of a diary of his sporting year, Catlow responds to the anti-field sports arguments. During this period he purchases shooting ground, a new gun dog and regularly goes fishing, yet the pages are interspersed with his thoughts on foxhunting, vegetarianism and his quest to understand the motives behind hunting.
