Intending their work to be of use to academic librarians selecting materials for instruction and research in the field of African American studies, Nosakhere (Robert W. Woodruff Library, Atlanta U. Center), Hughes (Georgia State U. Library), and Mosby (Mercer U. Swilley Library) describe and list 304 key titles in 50 subject areas. The titles were chosen by determining, through survey methodology, which works appear on 5 or more course syllabi or recommended reading lists supplied by African American studies faculty or departments. Each entry provides publishing information, a brief description, and ISBN or Library of Congress catalog numbers. Annotation 2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
