Journalist and author Freedman interviewed dozens of people to prepare this volume, a commemoration of the 1964 Alaska earthquake. He looks for recollections from downtown Anchorage, Seward, Valdez, and Kodiak, and seeks stories from survivors in farflung ruins, which were even more difficult to dig out from and reconstruct.
