Product Description

This collection of essays and critical collection of sources provides a long overdue overview of the dissemination and transmission of Jacob Böhmes (1575-1625) works. There is a particular focus on the collection of original manuscripts, manuscript copies and early printed versions which were compiled by the Dutch businessman Abraham Willemsz van Beyerland (1586/87-1648) in the 17th century. In addition to a detailed description of their origins, which reflect the climate of tolerance in Amsterdam at that time, there is a description of the collection up to the present time. The articles in this volume combine 20 years of Böhme research at the Ritman Research Institute in Amsterdam.
