Examining a central problem for Lutheran theology that concerning the consequences of sin for those justified by faith and the history of this "antinomian question" relative to Protestant dogma, this study considers several responses to the puzzle, including those of Melanchthon, Spener, Kierkegaard, Bonhoeffer, and Luther himself.
