This volume synthesizes the specialist, primarily German-language literature on German exile writers in 1930s France and presents it to a general English-language audience. The author principally concerns himself how writers such as Thomas Man, Lion Feuchtwanger, Stefan Zweig, and Joseph Roth came to settle in France and how, together with such English and French writers as H.
