Six weeks before he died, Norris (1930-2005) submitted the final portion of his translation of Gregory's (335-394) Commentarius in Canticum canticorum, but preparing it for the press has delayed its publication until now. The Greek text on facing pages is Hermann Langerbeck's, published in 1960 as a volume in Werner Jaeger's complete works of Gregory, and marginal numbers refer to that publication. His introduction discusses Gregory's background life, and major writings and the themes, methods, and sources of his interpretation of the Song of Songs.
