Intervention of the Other

Following Emmanuel Levinas, Fryer (contemporary religious thought, continental philosophy, and critical theory; Illinois Wesleyan U.) argues that the ethical is an an-archic structure and presents itself to people as they live their daily lives. He further argues, following Jacques Lacan, that it is up to individuals to make the choice to accept the ethical and take it upon themselves as a desire for the good of the other.
