Heinz Kohut: the Making of a Psychoanalyst

Strozier (history, City U. of New York-John Jay College) describes the life and work of Vienna-born Kohut, who moved to Chicago in 1939 where he gradually shifted from neurology to psychiatry to psychoanalysis. His reformulation of mainstream psychoanalytic thinking led to what is now relational psychoanalysis. A cloth edition was published in 2001 by Farrar, Straus, and Giroux.
