The first part, taking slightly over half the book, focuses on new technologies and approaches and includes such topics as sequencing and bioinformatics, structural biology, T and B cell variation, administration methods and adjuvants, difference between viral and bacterial vaccines, and cancer immunotherapy. The second part discusses disease targets that pose particular challenges in vaccine research: malaria, tuberculosis, HIV-1, cancer, Salmonella, respiratory synctial virus, and Staphyococcus aureus.
