Today, the Bauhaus is considered one of the most influential cultural institutions in Germany in the 20th century. At its core, however, it was initially an educational institution that, like many others, implemented reforms in artistic education after 1919. The study shows how the Bauhaus was an actor within the framework of a movement, without prescribing the fundamental ideas or being the sole model. The first comparison of the Bauhaus with four other institutions reveals programmatic parallels and analyses the particular reception of the Bauhaus on this basis.
