This volume collects 29 papers from a March 2008 conference convened in honor of the life and work of the late Italian jurist and labor law scholar Marco Biagi under the topical title, "Worker's rights protections in a new world of work: The case for a comparative and interdisciplinary approach to labor relations." The papers address general methodological and theoretical issues for comparative and interdisciplinary study of labor relations; address issues of trade union rights in the European Union, the UK, and Canada; examine atypical employment contract issues in the cases of the French press and Australian temporary agency workers; explore issues of social protection and social security in changing labor markets; and present reports of contemporary labor relations in Spain, Hungary, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Israel, Singapore, Hong Kong, Canada, Chile, and Venezuela.
