India's National Security : A Reader (Critical Issues in Indian Politics)

In this timely volume, two leading experts on India's national security bring together some of the best writings on the subject by prominent scholars of international acclaim. It explores the conceptions of national security and security practices prevalent in India; and the ways in which they will be consequential not only for its people, but for South Asia broadly and for the world as a whole. In four sections, this volume analyses: India's internal security, with a special focus on insurgency and terrorism; the nuclear history of the country from 1947 to the nuclear tests of 1998; key bilateral and regional relationships; and a vital but neglected topic-the nature of and need for defence reforms.
