Moral Education

Durkheim first formulated his ideas on moral education while teaching sociology at the Sorbonne in Paris, France in the early 20th century. This translation is an edited version of the lecture series given at the Sorbonne in 1902-3 in which Durkheim's ideas on education, morality, discipline, childhood, and the role of schools in instilling morals were first presented.
