American Federalism : The Third Century (Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science)

This volume examines and discusses American federalism's current status, in particular the enormous changes in the last 30 years. The contributors explore the paradox of stronger, richer and more independent states and localities contrasted with legislation and supreme court decisions explicity limiting their autonomy. In several articles the stage is set for the 3rd century of this longest running, ever changing, "experiment" in democracy.
