Collaborators on numerous publications over 20 years, Brennan (Renaissance studies, U. of Leeds, UK), Kinnamon (d. 2012; emeritus, Marrs Hill College, North Carolina), and Hannay (English, Siena College, New York) undertook the collection and annotation of a particularly lively and informative set of letters. They were written by the personal agent and advisor at court of Robert Sidney, Viscount Lisle and first Earl of Leicester. This collection will take its place alongside The Letters of John Chamberlain, published in 1939, as a resource for details on Jacobean Court life and of late-Elizabethan political affairs and domestic life and arrangements.
