This catalogue is published as a companion to the eponymous exhibition held at The Historic New Orleans Collection, October 2008-February 2009. Essays discuss the technical aspects of production, notes on distribution, and a brief biography of Edwards (1831-1900); the exhibition catalogue is divided into sections of the riverfront, Canal Street and Business Districts, and homes and gardens. Each included photograph is allotted a page of history and explanation as well as published images of related objects. The book is overall beautifully illustrated, written, and presented, and would be of interest to anyone intrigued by either local New Orleans history or the history of photography.
