These 45 proceedings papers from the June 1995 conference represent the best in Woolf scholarship, suggesting by their diversity that her writings are a bottomless well for literary scholars. Many of the contributors compare her work to other authors such as Joseph Conrad, Edith Wharton, Walt Whitman, Ring Lardner, and Lily Tomlin. (Who says English teachers don't have senses of humor?) An interesting essay looking at reading Woolf as a man and another considering the quantum physics of Woolf's The Waves illustrates, in part, the breadth of material collected in the volume.
