That's the Way I Think : An Exploration of Neurodiversity (4TH)

The fourth edition of David Grant’s bestseller is an insightful exploration of neurodiversity, illuminating the lived experiences of the estimated 15–20% of the population who are neurodivergent. Taking a lifestyle approach, Grant provides a compassionate understanding of diagnostic categories, including dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, ADHD and autism, with particular attention to often-overlooked female experiences and those without formal diagnoses. This fully revised edition features three new chapters on neurodiversity, autism and mental health, alongside substantially updated content on dyslexia, visualization, sleep, creativity and sports. Through authentic first-person accounts, the book examines both the differences and similarities across diagnostic categories while offering historical context and evolutionary interpretations. Complementing scientific understanding with personal narratives, That’s the Way I Think creates a comprehensive portrait of neurodivergent life that challenges misconceptions and celebrates neurodiversity as a positive social concept. This accessible resource serves multiple audiences: individuals who are or suspect they may be neurodivergent, their families and partners, and professionals who interact with neurodivergent people daily, including educators, mental health practitioners, support staff and managers. It provides essential insights for anyone seeking to understand and appreciate the rich complexity of neurodivergent experiences.
