Young and Dhanda (management, DePaul U.) inform undergraduate and graduate students in business and liberal arts about the relationship between sustainability and business. They examine natural, human, and financial capital, and consider topics across the business functions of operations, marketing, and strategy. They address controversial topics like global warming from both sides of the debate. They first discuss resources (air and climate issues, water, agriculture and food, forests, wildlife, biodiversity, and alternative clean energy and fuels), followed by chapters on sustainability strategies and frameworks and the role of the consumer, corporation, and governments and nongovernmental organizations. The final section identifies strategies for sustainability, including transparent reporting, measurement, and metrics; carbon offsets and standards; designing sustainable cities and communities; and green marketing.
