There are plenty of stand-alone textbooks and readers for a law course on courts, say Spohn, Hemmens, and McCann, but textbooks tend to provide an overview that often lacks depth, and readers often lack text to tie the articles together and provide little pedagogical support. Their solution is to combine the two in what could be either a core or supplemental textbook for a graduate or undergraduate course. They selected journal articles based primarily on how they add to and complement the textual material, and how interesting they might be for students; they often abridge an article to remove advanced and technical material.
