Small-Town Slayings in South Carolina

A special agent and forensic photographer for the state's law enforcement division, Shuler tells five stories ranging from 1955 to 1978, with the intention of remembering and celebrating the victims--both living and dead--of the crimes. The cases include an ax assault and murder in Orangeburg, kidnapping and murder in St. Matthews, and an unsolved murder in Walterboro. There are no grisly photographs, and no index.
