Hymn for the Forsaken

Some homes are worth fighting for. Others demand a price. When a powerful tech company targets her family land for a new data center, Ina Klee refuses to sell. The overgrown West Virginia homestead she shares with her grandmother isn’t just home—it’s where generations of Klees have crafted supernatural tinctures, rooted in old magic and older traditions. But fighting corporate money takes resources Ina doesn’t have. Until she meets Natalie Cuppy. Beautiful, intelligent, and newly arrived in the nearby town, Natalie offers friendship—and help. Drawn into the Cuppy family’s world of wealth and privilege, Ina is tempted by comfort she’s never known. But beneath their generosity lies something far darker. Little by little, Ina uncovers the truth: the Cuppy family is enchanted, ruthless, and willing to take what they want at any cost. Her gentle country magic is no match for their calculated malice, and every favor comes with strings she may not be able to cut. As the pressure mounts, Ina must decide how far she’s willing to go to protect her home—and who she’s willing to betray to survive. Perfect for fans of dark fantasy, Appalachian gothic, small-town supernatural stories, witchcraft, and morally gray heroines, and slow-burning magical horror.
