Here for modern readers is a biased, fulsome, and incomplete biography of the controversial Roman Emperor by someone who knew him well. For all its faults, says editor Anthony P. Schiavo, it is the most detailed and intimate account surviving from antiquity, and the sole source for Constantine's famous vision of a cross in the sky captioned "Conquer by this." Eusebius was Bishop of Caesarea about 260-340. The anonymous English translation was first published in 1845 by Samuel Bagster and Sons, London.
