Product Description

In the 1957 publication by HMSO, Beverton (fisheries ecology, U. of Wales) and Holt (International Fund for Animal Welfare) reported on their research from 1947 to 1953 into past changes in the stock of fish in waters adjacent to the British Isles and the natural and human factors that might affect future changes. They look at the fundamentals of the theory of fishing illustrated by an analysis of a trawl fishery, some extensions of the simple theory, estimation of parameters, and using theoretical models to study the dynamics and reaction to exploitation of fish populations. This reprint includes a foreword to the 2004 reprint by Holt, Beverton having died in 1995. Annotation 2005 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
